Brain Injury Social Work Grouop, BISWG - Stewarts Law LLP

The Brain Injury Social Work Group (BISWG) is a Special Interest Group affiliated to the British Association of Social Workers (BASW). It is a group for social work professionals and affiliates aiming to raise the standards of social work practice and other relevant specialist services in supporting people with a brain injury, their families and carers.

Through group meetings, seminars, regional initiatives, the website, mailings, links with other related organisations, representation through BASW and informal networking, BISWG aims to encourage and enhance good practice, service delivery and developments for those working in the field of brain injury.

BISWG actively supports the national debate on increasing specialist knowledge, skills and resources for those with a brain injury and their families and carers. Members represent the interests of clients on national working groups and organisations and through initiatives in the private, public and voluntary sectors.

BISWG has strong links with legal experts in particular in the fields of personal injury litigation, human rights, community care law and mental health law.

BISWG are not able to provide assistance / guidance with individual cases to members.
We are a group principally for Social Workers (though welcome other professionals working in the field).
Our aim are to provide an information and networking resource for our members.
All members of the committee have employment in the Brain Injury field and our work with BISWG is voluntary in addition to this.
